SCREENING NOISE IMPACT ASSESSMENT TOOL

Quickly assess if your facility is noise compliant!

The Screening Noise Impact Assessment (NIA) is a free, easy-to-use online tool from Patching Associates Acoustical Engineering that assesses whether a facility with noise-generating equipment is compliant with noise regulations. The tool is based on best-practice noise standards of 40 dBA (nighttime) and 50 dBA (daytime) to the most impacted residence. The Screening NIA tool is free to use and tells you instantly if the facility will pass or fail.

Before you start, gather together the following information as you will need it to complete your assessment:
  • Facility Name and Location
  • Distance to nearest residence (within 1,500 m)
  • Existence of adjacent facilities in the area (within 3,000 m)
  • Quantity and specifications of noise generating equipment
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

STEP 1: Create your Screening NIA account
STEP 2: Enter the information on your facility, equipment, and surrounding area as prompted
STEP 3: Click submit
STEP 4: You will automatically be notified if your facility meets the standards and qualifies for a Simplified Noise Impact Assessment

WHAT IS A SIMPLIFIED NOISE IMPACT ASSESSMENT (NIA)?

If your facility meets the standards based on the information entered into the tool, you can immediately request and pay for a Simplified NIA that can be provided to regulators to demonstrate compliance. This simplified report summarizes the information entered into the Screening NIA, is analyzed by experienced acousticians and stamped by an Acoustical Engineer to validate authenticity. This report will be provided within 24 hours of request and payment received through the Screening NIA tool.

DETAILED NOISE IMPACT ASSESSMENT

If your facility does not comply with the standards in the Screening NIA, a more detailed assessment may be required that could include onsite measurements and modeling. Alternatively, if your noise regulations differ from those in the tool, your facility may still meet less stringent regulation. Patching Associates can help you navigate through all these options.
