OCCUPATIONAL NOISE

Understand and control noise in your facility

By proactively managing noise levels and actively communicating safety procedures, noise-related risk can be effectively mitigated in the workplace. Patching Associates can help you understand and navigate occupational noise regulations wherever you operate.

Our Occupational Noise Services support:
  • Noise management program implementation to meet regulations
  • Mapping areas where hearing protection is required
  • Occupational exposure limit determination for different shift lengths and locations
  • Noise control design for machines and equipment rooms
  • Alarm/PA system audibility assessment to facilitate worker communication
  • Design-phase assessments and noise control recommendations
Industrial and Mining Noise Consulting
OCCUPATIONAL NOISE ASSESSMENT

Patching Associates has the expertise to accurately measure, model and control noise issues at facilities to meet occupational noise limits and minimize employee-related hearing loss and complaints. For most jurisdictions, the maximum noise exposure limits are 85 dBA for 8-hour shifts or 83 dBA for 12-hour shifts. Existing sound levels are documented within the facility fence line, establishing baseline sound levels for occupational health and safety management plans. Occupational Noise Assessments can be completed using field data or model simulation.

Patching Associates helps facilities evaluate and avoid hazardous noise exposure challenges in the workplace through detailed assessment, modelling and mapping of facility noise
OCCUPATIONAL NOISE MAPPING

Using precision sound level measuring equipment, Patching Associates provides accurate occupational noise mapping within facility fence lines, to validate noise models and support hearing conservation programs. Our highly detailed as-built noise maps provide a snapshot of operating conditions within the facility that can be used to predict employee and contractor sound level exposure. Noise maps can be used as a benchmark to determine if levels have changed and correlate to validate operational conditions every year.

We can highlight areas where hearing protection is required, determine occupational exposure limits for different shift lengths and locations, design noise control for machines and equipment rooms, increase alarm or PA system audibility, improve worker communication, and complete assessments during the design phase.

ENGINEERED NOISE CONTROL

Patching Associates uses 3D modelling and acoustical mapping software to simulate noise exposure, interior acoustics, speech intelligibility and indoor noise maps to identify target areas for acoustical treatment. We use this data to implement noise management programs including policies and procedures, and noise mitigation recommendations.
